OpenWay by Itron - Security Overview

The Open Way by Itron system was designed to meet the ever-changing requirements for advanced metering  infrastructure (AMI) and smart grid initiatives in the energy and utility industries Itron has served for over 25 years as a true market leader. Industry groups have only recently begun discussions on the security aspects of true two-way AMI systems that provide new levels of connectivity and involvement with end-use customers. Because of this new capability offered, AMI systems must provide a secure means for communication, as well as the command and control capabilities necessary for conservation and remote connect/disconnect operations.
